There are many great cruise ships
offering Alaskan Cruises and they cater to many different types of cruise
travelers. Some of the ships will hold thousands of passengers while
others are smaller and hold a few hundred guests. When it is time for a
shore excursion do you prefer to get on your private Regent Alaskan Cruise bus
that may be only half full because Regent does not want you to be crowded while
on their shore excursions. Most of the people we talk to that come back
from their Regent Alaskan Cruises all talk about the great shore trips,
un-crowded buses, fine dinning and the great crew and staff with their unmatched
attention to details.
We have personally enjoyed sailing on Regent Alaskan cruises
a couple of times and I can personally say that the experience was very magical
and exciting. The ship was small and enjoyable. The other guests
that we met along the way were friendly and very courteous. Our shore
excursions were very small and intimate trips where you had a chance to talk and
visit with guides and really find out about the local area and destinations that
we were going to or visiting. Some of our shore excursions included
helicopter trips, one to the Juneau ice fields which was great and then another
helicopter trip where we got close to the glaciers and even found a husky young
Grizzly Bear running the river banks. Wow, what a day.
Other shore excursions that we have had the opportunity to
enjoy included salmon fishing, kayaking, bike riding, photography classes at the
glaciers, dog sledding and even a remote fishing camp BBQ. Other people in
our party even went on a float plane as they delivered mail and pizza to people
located in the outback and places where cars do not go. I guess the best
thing about taking a Regent Alaskan Cruise is that I never felt rushed or
crowded and we were able to sit back and relax after a great day of exploration
in the comfort of our suite watching the landscape go by as we set sail for our
next destination.
